My little girl is growing up

Yes, I know she is only 4 (4!) but in April she asked for her own bed. Last summer we got a toddler bed to use as a chair for the playroom. Finally she asked to sleep in it at night. So our room went from wall to wall mattresses to one queen bed next to her toddler bed. I was actually very emotional while we were getting it all set up. Besides Daniel being back onto our mattress with us (he and Emma slept on one queen mattress and Tuan and I shared the other) things aren't so different. She is still in the same room and right next to me. So I still have some time! lol

Right this minute

D putting together the space/planets floor puzzle in his space jammies and had to snap a picture.

Fun with tinker toys.

rainy day fall back

Painting nails is always good for passing the time. Well - at least 10 minutes of time! Although lately Emma has been painting her nails at least 2 times a day (often more) every day and the smell is driving me crazy!

Daddy

Two days ago Tuan had a deadline at work. Things weren't coming together as fast as he hoped however. He finally made it home at 10 pm just as the kids and I were heading to bed. They got 5 minutes of play out of him before he had to get back to work at home. The next day he came home 'for lunch' to nap. They wanted to be near him so much that they each chose a movie for their DVD player and watched it on the bed next to him while he napped. D ended up curled up next to him.

They really love their Daddy - he's the best. Not having him around for 2 days really helped them realize how much they miss him.

side note - Daniel calls Tuan "Daddy" at home and "Dad" when he's talking to him on the phone. I have no idea but find it adorable.

Of bears and fans and sandwiches

A photo essay.

Emma's stuffed bear somehow got stuck on the ceiling fan.

Perhaps if I stand on this stool I can get it off.

Nope - too short.

Hmm - maybe if I add a train station on top? Not quite.

I know! A snack. I'll have a snack.

Wait a minute - what if I turn the fan on?

It worked!

Snapshot Sunday

Anyone have any idea what is eating my broccoli?

And why do my melons have these yellow spots on them?

Snapshot Sunday

These tomatoes obviously didn't make it. I really need to get this stored for next season!

Garage saleing is addicting for me and I keep trying to use great finds like this as an excuse to keep going. lol

I have been forgetting to link this each time. So here it is :)

Snapshot Sunday

Thank goodness for snapshot sundays - they keep me posting somewhat regularly! lol

I pulled this weed from a garden spot that I grew veggies in last year and am currently growing peas in. I have no idea how that enormous pod got in the garden without me noticing. But the constant rain for the past two days has made everything but my veggies sprout like mad! Weirdest weed I have ever pulled!

The people who have seen the before pic to this 'after' will appreciate my work! lol

Um - this pic is sideways and I just don't have the time to fix it right now. Oh well.

Check out the shorts with a jacket. Even though it's June we had some nice cool weather this weekend.

I have no idea what kind of dirt has accumulated in this bucket but a few volunteer seeds have sprouted and it sure looks like I'm growing something on purpose!

Sorry to have been so lax with these lately.

Snapshot Sunday

Are the egg hunts over at your house yet? lol

My love/hate relationship with perler beads is the subject of a whole other post.

Emma is really into board games now so I have been starting a collection of garage sale finds.

This is my personal favorite of the day.

"Scare City"

I get these posts every day and sometimes one of them really speaks to me. Today's really hit home.

When you buy into the *scarcity* principle, you live
in "Scare City": a place where you're always afraid of
coming up short.

In Scare City, you can't enjoy what you have -- you're
too busy worrying about what you *don't* have. All the
cups in Scare City are half empty.

Somehow, young children are largely immune to the
distressing effects of living in Scare City...

* They enjoy the abundant *now* while their
parents worry about the lack of time.

* They transform their homes into magical
worlds while their parents worry about the
lack of order.

* They give and receive love endlessly while
their parents carefully ration their limited
supply.

To live the Good Life, you have to leave Scare City
and go to a *dance* -- a joyful, magical, healing
dance where you release your fears and *shake your
booty* like nobody's watching: a-BUN-dance!

Are you willing to do A BUN DANCE with your child? :-)

New swings!!

I had been thinking about how to get two swings on our set without buying the insanly expensive plastic buckets from the store. We had wooden ones growing up and I remember them being just fine. Well, we already had the wood and just needed the U-bolts and chains. Tuan took care of the measuring and drilling and I hung them up. Daniel thought it was new and fun but didn't really get into them for a few days. Emma however, LOVED them! She was so excited!

She swung,

and swung,

and swung!

A storm was coming in so it was getting colder and raining. She didn't seem to care.

nice weather

Heh - this never posted. Ah well. It was back when we had one of the first nice days of the spring. Jackets but warm enough to play outside. As you can see we hadn't but the swings up yet.

Although it is supposed to be getting cold again later this week, this is what we have for now.

Ahhhhh.
