KC asked about the flavored popcorns that I make so I'm going to post about them.
It will be the first post in a weekly series that I have been wanting to start for a while now. Look for it on Monday!

Happy Groundhog Day!
A day late anyway.
Shh - don't tell my kids. They think it's today. You see I didn't get a chance to get to the craft store for the brown felt until today.
Emma, my little crafter loved making hers. Daniel - well, I made his. He wasn't at all interested. LOL
I was inspired by this bloggers tute. Groundhog puppet
I didn't have any paper cups so I cut a toilet paper tube in half and glued a circle of cardboard onto the bottom. Cut in a slit, and voila!

Now you see her:

Now you don't!

Crochet
A friend of mine asked me to teach a few 9 year old girls to crochet. It was my first experience teaching someone else to crochet and I learned a lot about what works and what doesn't!
Ever since then Emma has been asking me to teach her how to crochet. I tried to interest her in finger knitting first, but she wanted to crochet.
So we did. And while she doesn't do it by herself yet, she knows what happens with the yarn and I help her manipulate the yarn and needle.

Curls
My sister let me borrow these curlers for Emma's hair. I was very excited to try them and so was Emma.

Snapshot Sunday
Lots of crafting going on here! That is a grass skirt. My bell choir had a tropical themed dinner party and Em wanted a grass skirt to wear. One piece of green lace (her choice! lol) and one package of rafia later and she had her skirt. I got lots of giggles as I "gave it a haircut" while she was wearing it! (BTW - I wore a flower headpiece and Tuan, who isn't a fan of costumes and dressing up wore a camera and was a tourist! LOL)

Finally got our freezer moved to its permanant spot. It wouldn't fit downstairs so we moved it into the music room. Long story short - I had all of the pumpkin/squash from the farmers market that I prepped and froze as well as a tray of peppers in this freezer. Thankfully I had nothing else because it ame unplugged and no one noticed. For a month. Minimum. Yeah - that was a nasty mess to clean up. And I must admit that I'm still mourning the loss of all of that lovely squash. Do you know how hard it is to find canned pumpkin that isn't made by Nestle? Grrr.

I think it's time to take the Hallowe'en Deorations down and make room for some Valentines fun!

My Mad Scientist
We don't drink a lot of pop around here but the kids an have it if they want it. The other day after finishing her orange soda, Emms asked if we could ever make some. You see she hears that a lot! "Oh, we don't have to buy that - I know I/we could make it."
Actually Emma - I think we could make some fizzy orange juie! A friend recently gifted us with a lot of madarin oranges and grapefruits. So we (I) peeled and juiced them. Then the fun began!
First Emma used a hammer to break up the dry ice.

Then she put each piece in the pitcher.

I poured in the juice

Look what happens when I blow on it, Mother!

I told her that she looked like a mad scientist!

Time for a taste test

Unfortunately there were too many grapefruits in the mix and she didn't like the sour aftertaste.
So the next day we got some more dry ice and made fizzy lemonade.

In a bowl instead of the pitchar which was full of fizzy orange juice (yes - I'm about sick of fizzy orange juice - being the only one who drinks it! lol). While the taste was better, it wasn't as fizzy. Bummer.

Emms Says
On the phone with Tuan
"so I told Mother: I'm going to stick Daniel in the GARBAGE! Hee, hee. I didn't really stick him in the garbage - he's nursing."

Sleepover!
Every Thirsday my kids and my sister's kids have gymnastics class together. Each Thursday Hannah asks if she can spend the night but decides not to after remembering that means no waking up at home with Mom. But this last Thursday she was ready to stay. It was so, so much fun!
There was X-men and hours of X-men pretend
Ring toss

finger (and toe) nail painting

snowflake coloring

magnet dolls

paper folls

wii playing

twister playing

and sleep!

Tonight - it's my turn! Yikes! Funny enough, my little girl doesn't seem to think that it is any big deal.
