Moving

I have never moved a three month old before! Just last month, Tuan and I decided that while our apartment is not horrible, we would really love to live in an actual house. So with one month left in our lease, we told them we would not be renewing it. This is without having even looked for places to move to! Yikes! We just know how to stress ourselves out don't we! :o} We have found a house that we really like and just hope that we get it! Well, Emma is now awake - I guess that this marks the end of this post!

Oh, blessed sleep!

Sunday night Emma slept for seven straight hours! It was heaven! Of course, she was up all day on Monday, but I stayed sane because I had so much sleep. I feel like such a dork getting this excited over 7 hrs of sleep!

What I never thought I would get excited about

I always told myself that I wasn't going to be one of those parents who obsessed about their baby's poop. . . Need I go on? I mean, this post wouldn't even exhist if I was able to do what I said I would do! So yes, I obsess about my baby's poop. However, it isn't the consistancy I obsess about. It's the timing. And four days ago I held Emma over the bathroom sink, gave her a cue and she pooped and peed in the sink for me! I was so elated I felt downright silly! But this is a major landmark for me in this process of communicating with Emma. Ever since she was born, I have been making the same sound to her when I know that she is peeing or pooping. And now she is associating that sound with her muscles! In the last four days, we have caught most of her poops and many pees in the sink or her bucket. Of course, we are still not perfect. (I'm learning to forget about perfection!) On Monday I got peed on three times! But I didn't even care. I love feeling so connected to Emma and I feel so proud when I can see that we are actually communicating with each other.

Eye-ore vs. Mommy

It's official! I have been replaced by Eye-ore. I suppose I must explain. I recently moved Emma's changing table on her bassinet closer the the Pooh mobile. So now she can see it when we change her diaper. Her favorite character in Eye-ore. She will lay there and smile at him while making happy noises. I must insert here that she does smile at me, but hardly ever makes "happy noises" because she doesn't vocalize very much yet. Except for crying I suppose. But then, if the competition is between me and a stuffed animal, I think I will be ok. After all, I own a seam ripper and Pooh and Piglet aren't gonna talk! ;o)

The best and the worst

Motherhood is definitely different than I thought it would be - although not in a bad way. However it does tend to bring out the best and the worst in me. It has helped me to become more responsible and definitely more selfless. However, I never thought that I would have to physically remove myself from my child. I don't believe this makes me a bad parent - I just never thought that it would come to that. Strange that I thought that since I know that I am a very high-strung and emotional person! But thank goodness I have Tuan around to hand Emma over to while I run to another room, close the door and howl! I am posting about this subject because last night was one of those nights. We went to "bed" at 10:30 and Emma finally got to sleep at 5:30 am. In between was a little bit of napping, but mostly crying and fussing. I think that it was some pretty painful gas - which the gas medicine seemed to help, but not cure. She didn't have a fever, so I wasn't too worried, just tired and stressed! But this morning she is back to her charming, sweet and seemingly innocent self. I say seemingly innocent because she is sleeping right now! In case she every reads this, I should give the disclaimer now that she is actually a pretty easy baby. This is the first time something like this has happened.

Etcetera

I titled this post "etcetera" because I don't know what to write about! Any topic I choose seems to deep and I don't feel like I have time to write about it. So I am just going to write about what ever pops into my head!
Sarah suggested that I create one of these blogs so that she can keep up on what's going on in my life. It sounded ok, but just another thing that I have to do. But once I started reading hers, I really thought that I should start one of my own. I check hers every other day or so because I love reading what she posts. And looking at the pictures!
This morning I somewhat depressed myself by figuring out my average amount of sleep each night. 5 1/2 to 6 hours! yikes! I didn't ever think that I could actually survive on that little sleep. And I have made it one whole month! Ok, well on this post it sounds like a lot more than it feels! So maybe I'm a whiner! Oh, well!
The other night Tuan, Emma and I went to a barbeque at a friends house. Usually I like to be one of the last people to leave because I feel like I'm not missing out on what other people are saying. Plus it doesn't give them much of a chance to talk about me! (pathetic, I know!) But we had only been there about an hour and a half when it started getting pretty chilly. Emma wasn't dressed to terribly warm because it was supposed to stay nice. So we left early! Amazing what being completely responsible for another person will do to you. What's more amazing? I didn't even mind - I was too worried about Emma!
Gas is rediculously expensive! Our stake center is being demolished and so we have to drive to Ponca City (40 miles away) for conference. This coming year could get really expensive! Or, I suppose we could just listen to conference on our computer via the internet. Oh, wait! Our connection is too slow! Darn!
My sister Cindy sent me the birth stories of her three children during the middle of my pregnancy. I really enjoyed reading them and they helped me to get through to my own delivery. So I decided that I would write the pregnancy and birth story of my own baby. I have just finished it. While parts of it are terribly cheesy, I'm glad that I wrote it down. I know that I will enjoy reading it later and that Emma will (hopefully) like it as well.
I am a reality tv junky! I don't watch every reality tv show out there, but almost all of the shows that I watch are reality. My favorites are The Amazing Race, Survivor and Extreme Home Makover. I also watch Lost and Alias. I'm really not into sitcoms. If I happen to catch parts of them I only like According to Jim. You would think that I could find something better to do with my time - like type better posts on my blog!
Well, I have already typed much more than I thought I would. I guess I will sign off now! Laterz!
